How to organize jobsite photos by room

Organizing jobsite photos by room is not a folder-naming problem. It is a mapping problem: each photo needs a location on the floor plan before anyone else opens the file.

One waypoint per room. Photos, PDFs, and notes stay attached to that pin.

Captions are not organization

“Kitchen” in a filename still leaves two kitchens, a kitchenette, and a wet bar in dispute. Photo documentation by location uses the drawing as the index. Reviewers click the room and see the photos.

Steps

  1. Start with the floor plan. Import the unit, floor, or building plan you will actually walk.
  2. Create a waypoint per room. Kitchens, baths, corridors, exteriors — if you will photograph it, pin it.
  3. Capture at the pin. Take or upload photos while that waypoint is selected. Do not sort later from a camera roll if you can avoid it.
  4. Export room-indexed output. The PDF photo report keeps room context with every image so punch lists and inspections stay followable.
